Subdued, soulful, and smooth in ways that Thin Lizzy never were before and rarely were afterwards. Of course, this hard rock band still included plenty of moments of the style of primal rock 'n' roll they were known for, though still managed to make it more enigmatic, sincere, and philosophically complex than their other material and certainly more so than their contemporaries at the time.
