Orangutan T-Shirts
Description: Sadly orangutans are dying.. but there is a way to help them if we all do something about it and spread the word: do not purchase any products containing palm oil and, if you do, purchase only certified sustainable palm oil (RSPO and Green Palm label). Unfortunately palm oil is quite everywhere and you will probably find it in many products that you have at home, like your shampoo, ice cream, detergent, cookies, chocolate, biodiesel, soap, packaged bread, margarine, instant noodles, pizza dough, etc. It is the most widely consumed vegetable oil on the planet because it’s extremely versatile and cheap to grow. Luckily there are many alternatives without palm oil or with sustainable palm oil! For example instead of nutella you could b...

Description: A few years ago now I produced a watercolour painting of an Orangutan that’s proved to be quite popular. So now years later, a little wiser and little more skilled with the brush I’ve produced a follow up piece. I didn’t want to do another full body one because frankly the face of an Orangutan is too great to pass up painting. Personally I prefer this version and I may have to revisit more of my previous wildlife paintings like this
Description: Known for their distinctive red fur, orangutans are the largest arboreal mammal, spending most of their time in trees. Long, powerful arms and grasping hands and feet allow them to move through the branches. These great apes share 96.4% of our genes and are highly intelligent creatures.
Description: Orangutans are found in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra in the Indonesian part of the country. The greatest threat being experienced by orangutans is the increasingly narrow habitat because the rain forest areas that become their residence are used as palm oil, mining and trees are cut down for timber harvesting. Orangutans have lost 80% of their habitat area in less than 20 years.
Description: Original illustration, hand drawn by me Richard Stelmach as part of my Daily Orange series. The Orangutan is a beautiful creature which spends most of its time in the trees by itself. It is highly intelligent, which is probably why it knows spending most of its time in the trees by itself is a good idea and unlikely it would find other animals intellectually stimulating enough to make it worthwhile conversing with. It could be imagined that the orangutan spends many hours philosophising atop of the canopy. Orangutans are also good at swearing at people, riding in a truck and slapping faces as shown in Every Which Way but Loose, alongside Clint Eastwood or evolving into humanoid intellectuals as shown in The Planet of the Apes. Sadly...
Description: The baby is comforted by holding onto his mother in the jungle, Semenggoh Rehabilitation Center, Sarawak, East Malaysia, Borneo, South East Asia. Orangutans are highly endangered due to habitat destruction mainly due to the establishment of Palm Oil plantations. If we all stopped buying food and other products which include palm oil there would be a chance of saving these amazing animals. Canon 500D, zoom lens. (Featured in Artists Universe.)
